On Camera: Analysis of the start of the U.S. Senate race
06/14/2010 03:23 PM
Reprising their roles from the “Gridlock” segment of Insight’s former On the Record program hosted by Pat Crowley, Republican Marcus Carey and Democrat Nathan Smith break down the opening weeks of the U.S. Senate race.
Carey, an Erlanger lawyer, is publisher of the conservative site Bluegrassbulletin.com and is a former vice chairman of the Republican Party of Kentucky. Smith, a businessman from Fort Mitchell, is former vice chairman of the Democratic Party.
Carey was among the early batch of political observers who recognized the appeal Republican candidate Rand Paul had with voters during the GOP primary in which Paul defeated Secretary of State Trey Grayson. And Smith was a strong supporter of Attorney General Jack Conway, who narrowly defeated Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo in the Democratic primary. Here is their 12-minute exchange recorded Friday at Insight’s Florence studio:
- Hosted by Ryan Alessi, directed by Dennis Rudy, and camera operation by Dan Williams, Joe Zink and Dan Pelstring
