Moberly rips into Gov. Beshear on the House floor

In a strong public rebuke of Gov. Steve Beshear, one of his fellow Democrats, Rep. Harry Moberly of Richmond, repeatedly criticized him for a “lack of leadership” and for not supporting House Democrats.
“Where are you governor? Come out and show some leadership,” Moberly said, prompting applause from others in the House chamber.
He repeatedly chastised Beshear for backing a budget bill that resembles the version similar to the Republican-controlled Senate’s bill and for “capitulating to the lack of vision in the Senate budget.”
Moberly lamented the fact that the bill he reluctantly voted for Wednesday — which he called the “worst budget” in his 30-year career — didn’t have construction money to replace run-down schools as the House version did. He said those projects would provide much-needed jobs for out-of-work Kentuckians.
