Former Marine Corps fighter pilot Amy McGrath has been dominating political donations early in the 6th District Democratic primary campaign.
McGrath is reporting raising $771,533 for the quarter ending September 30, according to the Federal Election Commission’s website. The Georgetown Democrat has now raised a total of $807,126, and has $551,551 cash-on-hand. McGrath has not loaned her campaign any personal loans, unlike one of her challengers.
State Sen. Reggie Thomas, D-Lexington, officially jumped into the race for the 6th Congressional district in central and eastern Kentucky in July. Thomas has raised $147,034 in the campaign, including a $38,000 loan from the candidate. After paying operating expenses Thomas has $78,294 in cash-on-hand, according to a report filed with the Federal Election Commission.
An updated report from perennial candidate Geoff Young was not available on the FEC website on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, Republican U.S. Rep. Andy Barr is reporting having $1.3 million in cash-on-hand after the third quarter FEC report.
