With the election drawing ever nearer, Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Bevin has hired a communications director.
Jessica Ditto has been tapped as Bevin’s campaign communications director and spokesperson.
“Jessica adds talent and experience to help us get our message out in these critical weeks of the campaign,” Bevin said in a statement. “The voter sentiment is on our side. Jessica will ensure that we face every negative attack and earned media opportunity with discipline and effectiveness.”
As the clock winds down on the campaign Bevin finds himself with a litany of grudges against members of the press who Bevin is not speaking to, as noted in Saturday’s column by the Courier-Journal’s Joe Gerth
Ditto currently works with non-profit organization Connected Nation based in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
According to her LinkedIn profile she spent from April 2008 to April 2009 as the special projects manager for U.S. Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., and the news release announcing her hire notes previous stints working for former GOP Gov. Ernie Fletcher and the Republican Party of Kentucky.
“I am excited to join Matt Bevin’s campaign. Matt is a strong business-leader who will protect our freedoms and create jobs,” Ditto said in a statement. “What’s so appealing about Matt is that he solves problems with an open mind and he’s willing to bring opposing views to the table.”
