U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Vanceburg, tapped one of his former elected officials from Lewis County to lead his district office and will keep two key members of his predecessor’s field staff.
Massie, who was sworn in Nov. 13 to fill the unexpired term of former Congressman Geoff Davis, announced Friday that former Lewis Count Jailer Chris McCane will serve as his district director. The district stretches from the Louisville suburbs across Northern Kentucky to the West Virginia line.
McCane, a Morehead State University graduate, formerly served as corrections specialist for the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.
Massie’s other field staff will include:
- Bob Porter as field director. Porter is a past president of the Northern Kentucky Home Builders Association and owned Mertack’s Furniture, Builders Cabinet Supply and Richwood Land Company.
- Mary Kreft as district office manager. Kreft is a holdover from Davis’ staff.
- Stacie Rockaway will serve as western district field representative. Rockaway, a former aide in the state Senate Republican office, worked in Massie’s campaign in the counties around Louisville.
- J.R. Reed will be eastern district field representative. Reed is the other member of Davis’ field staff who will remain. A U.S. Army veteran, Reed is a retired public school administrator for the Greenup County School District and worked for eight years in Davis’ district office in Ashland.
