Lexington ranks in top run cities in America

Lexington is a great city to be in according to a new study by WalletHub The study ranked Lexington as the 4th best run city in the country.

The study looked at the operating efficiency of the 150 largest U.S. cities to see which was managed the best. The results were measured in a “quality of services” score which was made up of 35 metrics grouped into six service categories,and then compared against the city’s per-capita budget.

Lexington was given a quality of city services rank of 63. The city received the highest ranking for health with a ranking of 49, education of residents ranked fair as well, coming in at 53. Lexington was ranked 54 for financial stability, and 63 for safety. When it came to the economy, the city came in 78 our of the 150 cities looked at. Lexington received the lowest rating when it came to infrastructure and pollution, being ranked 129.

While Lexington didn’t fare to well for the quality of the city rankings, the total budget per capita is what shot it to the top 5 in the country, being ranked 4th overall.

Louisville was ranked 30th overall with a quality of city services ranking of 86 and a per-capita budget ranking of 19. Louisville fared better than Lexington in two categories in quality of city services, ranking 42nd in financial stability and 96th in infrastructure and pollution.

No other Kentucky cities were included in the study.
