Latest finance reports show all but two Democrats hold fundraising edge

The last campaign finance reports for the candidates before the Nov. 8 election show Democrats holding significant fundraising advantages in races for governor, attorney general, secretary of state and auditor.

The Republican candidates for treasurer and agriculture commissioner have more resources to spend over the final days than their Democratic counterparts.

The highlights of fundraising and spending over the past two weeks:

Race for governor

Gov. Steve Beshear, Democrat

  • Raised: $517,401
  • Spent: $1 million
  • Cash on hand: $586,217

David Williams, Republican

  • Raised: $57,621
  • Spent: $78,163
  • Cash on hand: $241,259

Gatewood Galbraith, independent

  • Raised: $3,524
  • Spent: $3,572
  • Cash on hand: $2,142

Race for attorney general

Jack Conway, Democrat (incumbent)

  • Raised: $105,181
  • Spent: $390,111
  • Cash: $174,823

Todd P’Pool, Republican

  • Raised: $36,838
  • Spent: $100,888
  • Cash: $17,610

(P’Pool has $190,000 left in his primary account — money he lent his own campaign last year. P’Pool has not said whether he will transfer that money but told Pure Politics last week he will have the money to keep pace with Conway on TV down the stretch).
