Recavass results: Chandler and state House incumbents keep leads

11/12/2010 09:30 AM

County clerks will be double-checking the results in seven races on Friday, including the 6th Congressional District contest between Democratic U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler and Republican Andy Barr. Those two began the day separated by 649 votes.

UPDATED 11:32 a.m.: According to Les Fugate in the Secretary of State’s office, Barr picked up one vote in Lincoln County and all the other vote totals remained the same. That means Chandler would win by 648 votes out of the more than 239,000 cast.

UPDATED 11:46 a.m.: cn|2 Politics confirmed with the clerks in Bullitt, Meade and Hardin counties that no vote totals changed, meaning Democratic Reps. Jeff Greer of Brandenburg and Linda Belcher of Shepherdsville appear to have won.

UPDATED 11:50 a.m.: No votes changed in the 78th House District either.

Recanvassing began at 9 a.m.

In addition to that race, clerks will be checking on three judges races — two of which are in Jefferson County — and three state legislative races involving Democratic incumbents who appear to have narrowly won re-election, according to unofficial results.
