Jack Conway launches two ads that highlight cyber crimes unit and budget cuts

Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway has begun the TV phase of his campaign with commercials that tout his record and seek to distance himself from Washington politicians he once wanted to join.
In one ad, the narrator criticizes “Washington’s politicians” for wasting taxpayer money, before launching into examples that Conway has saved money as Attorney General. Conway ran unsuccessfully last year for U.S. Senate to be one of those members of Congress to which his ad refers.
The ad says Conway is “fighting for us” by cutting his own pay, reducing staff and by “prosecuting fraud.”
A second ad features Conway talking directly to the camera about the cyber crime unit he created in the office.
Conway has said his office has taken more than 300,000 child porn images off the web through the work of that task force.
And the ad closes with Conway saying other states are “following Kentucky’s leadership.”
Conway’s campaign has bought TV time in Northern Kentucky, Lexington, Evansville, Hazard and Paducah, according to TV ad buys and the Conway campaign.
“We’re going up on broadcast and cable in major media markets across the state Wednesday,” campaign spokeswoman Allison Haley said in a statement. “We will be airing two spots that highlight Jack Conway’s outstanding record of being fiscally responsible, fighting for issues that are important to Kentucky families, and keeping his promises to Kentuckians as Attorney General. Over the next four years, Jack will continue his efforts to make Kentucky a safer place for families.”
Conway’s opponent, Republican Todd P’Pool, has been up on TV for a month now. P’Pool’s first ads stayed largely biographical, before his latest ad attacks Conway and tries to link him with President Barack Obama.
