Breck Withers, a community organizer from Lexington, filed paperwork to run as an Independent in the 45th House District.
Withers is running against incumbent Republican Rep. Stan Lee of Lexington for the 45th Dist. House seat. Lee has been in office since 2001.
Withers, writing on his campaign website, wrote that he was compelled to run for state House due to, “the ongoing strife and discord occurring in the state legislature.”
This is the first time running for elected office for Withers, who says he will focus on education and fiscally conservative government.
“I believe in responsible business and responsible government. Our public education system has the potential to be our greatest asset and with effective leadership, Kentucky’s best is yet to come,” Withers said in a press release.
