House Minority Floor Leader Rocky Adkins still considering a gubernatorial run

FRANKFORT – With the November 2019 election less than two years a way, one well known Democrat is still exploring the idea of throwing his hat in the ring for a run for governor.

Rep. Rocky Adkins, D-Sandy Hook, who is the House Minority Floor Leader, admits that he is carefully mulling over the possibility of a gubernatorial run.

“There’s no question that I’m getting a lot of encouragement to look into the race and we are, and the reason that we are giving it serious consideration is because of that encouragement that we’re getting,” Adkins said. “But the focus that I’m trying to keep is basically here with the job and task at hand that I was elected to do, but we’re giving it serious consideration because of the encouragement that I’m getting across Kentucky.”

Adkins believes that his small town rural eastern Kentucky roots will resonate with voters, should he choose to run.

“I don’t see being from Elliott County and Sandy Hook being any kind of a negative myself, I see it as being a positive,” Adkins said. “The reason I see it being a positive is because everything that I’ve gotten in life I’ve worked hard and earned it.”
