Former U.S. Senator and governor Wendell Ford is endorsing the candidacy of Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes in her bid to unseat U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell in his bid for a sixth-term in office.
The 30 second ad started running statewide Monday features Ford, 90, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in July.
In the ad, Ford says when he was in Congress the parties worked together.
“Mitch McConnell, he doesn’t understand the problems. He’s just been against everything. He’s Mr. No,” Ford says.
Making his pitch for Grimes as a bipartisan legislator who can work together, Ford says he believes in Grimes.
“She is the right person at the right time,” he says.
Ford served in the Senate from 1978 to 1998.
