After turning in a $2.5 million fundraising report for the last quarter, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is getting a head start on the final quarter of the year.
On Wednesday, the campaign held a luncheon for Grimes in Chicago at Keefer’s Steakhouse in Chicago, which was rated one of America’s top ten steakhouses by Playboy Magazine, according to the restaurant’s website.
The invitation, which promised Grimes’ attendance, was posted on Act Blue and offered guests the choice of a “guest” contribution at $500, “sponsor” for $1,000, or a “host” level for $2,600 each.
This Sunday Grimes is expected to be in Denver, Colorado where Sen. Michael Bennet (Colo.), the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, is hosting a fundriasing reception for Grimes according to The Hill.
The Republican Party of Kentucky blasted Grimes over her jet setting fundraising in a statement sent to Pure Politics.
“It’s pretty embarrassing for all Kentuckians that despite both in-state and national media asking where she is on the issues, Part-Time Grimes is too busy jetting around the country fundraising to offer up anything beyond tired campaign talking points that don’t address any policy issues whatsoever,” Spokeswoman Kelsey Cooper.
With $2 million cash-on-hand Grimes trails in overall fundraising to McConnell who has built up a war chest that still has nearly $10 million.
