By now you have probably seen Governor Matt Bevin’s dramatic entrance to the Quakerstate 400 this past Saturday in Sparta to deliver the Green Flag.
Bevin, who was hanging by a rope from a Blackhawk helicopter, was lowered on the the track to hand off the official green flag to start the race. The Governor was also driving the Pace Car for the race as well. Spectrum Sports was able to catch up with the Governor following the race to discuss what this opportunity meant to him and what this race means to the state.
This is the seventh year that Kentucky Motor Speedway has hosted the NASCAR Quakerstate 400. This year’s race was won by Martin Truex, Jr. This is Truex’s first win in Kentucky.
