Gov. Steve Beshear takes on Washington in newest TV ad

The latest TV ad from Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear seeks to distance Kentucky’s financial and political conditions from the recent wrangling in Washington, D.C.
Beshear’s ad shows clips of President Barack Obama, Republican House Speaker John Boehner, as well as Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.
“The mess in Washington has disappointed us all — no leadership, just politics,” the ad says.
Later in the ad, Beshear says, “We’ve tightened our belt in a fiscally responsible way.”
Then the 30-second spot shows more clips from Washington press conferences involving Boehner and House Republicans and Democratic Senate Leader Harry Reid and Senate Democrats, as the announcer says “while Washington showed no leadership.”
Republicans, including candidate David Williams, have sought to link Beshear to President Barack Obama, who has had low approval ratings in Kentucky.
In a statement, Williams blasted Beshear’s ad:
“Today’s campaign ads truly illustrate Steve Beshear’s hyper-partisan, cynical nature. He wants everyone to believe he’s above-the-fray while at the same time his allies are launching the first false and extremely negative attacks of this race,” Williams said. “One thing is true, though. Beshear did unite party leaders in Frankfort in the belief that his budgets were not based in reality and that he has done nothing to advance meaningful tax reform to improve our state’s economy.”
