Gov. Steve Beshear, who is fresh off an economic development trip to Germany and France, announced Monday that he will soon make a similar trip to India in the coming weeks.
Beshear spoke at the Kentucky World Trade Day in Lexington promoting Kentucky exports and economic job creation with the group. Among those attending the event was the Korean ambassador to the U.S.
Last week, Beshear praised a deal for anIndian electricity company to buy 9 million tons of Kentucky coal a year for the next quarter century.
Beshear’s administration still hasn’t released any information on what came out of the governor’s European trip earlier this summer. Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson told Ryan Alessi last week that it was a productive trip but disclosed little else:
Beshear’s trip to India will be his second.
Last year, Beshear announced 250 new jobs in Elizabethtown at an India-based company, Flex Films. The announcement made headlines when Beshear’s Republican opponent in the election – David Williams criticized him for participating in a Hindu ceremony to bless the ground of a new manufacturing facility.
