Durbin offers sharp defense of Democrats and their election chances

Illinois Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin joined prominent state Democrats at the Kentucky Democratic Party dinner in Louisville Saturday. 

Durbin predicted his party would be energized come election day despite national polling that indicates Republicans are more enthused. And he took a few shots at tea party candidates:

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jack Conway echoed Durbin’s thoughts, reiterating that Democrats are ready to get out the vote Nov. 2 and help him defeat Republican opponent Rand Paul.
