Former Gov. Brown: Democrats acting like socialists and McConnell needs to go

Former Democratic Gov. John Y Brown Jr. said he is disappointed with both Republican challenger Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama while adding that the national Democratic Party has shifted too far to the left.

“I’m afraid their, you know my party is acting and talking, and acting like socialists,” Brown said about the Democratic party.

Brown, who served as Kentucky’s governor from 1979 to 1983, said he remains a Democrat. He said he was initially impressed with Obama but now believes he’s “in over his head.”

And as for what we will save this country, Brown – one of Kentucky’s most famous entrepreneurs – said look no further then our mobile devices.

Brown has always been known for his candor. And he didn’t limit his criticism to his own party.

In response to a question about the 2014 U.S. Senate race in Kentucky, Brown said voters should remove five-term U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, who is the Republican leader of the Senate.

While Brown said he didn’t know if his son, former Secretary of State John Y. Brown III, is considering challenging McConnell for the Senate in 2014.

“Anyone would be a good candidate against Mitch McConnell,” Brown said. “We’ve got to find some way to get him out of there. He was George W’s number one man – got everything through that he wanted, so he’s nothing that I think people of Kentucky should be proud of.”

Brown briefly ran for U.S. Senate in 1984 before dropping out of the primary race against then-Sen. Walter “Dee” Huddleston — who went on to lose the general election to Republican challenger Mitch McConnell.

Socialists, eh? On which planet do the socialists bail out the big banks while letting the working schlub take the austerity medicine? What sort of socialist agrees to put Medicare and Social Security cuts “on the table” while agreeing to leave taxes for the rich off of it?

As has been noted earlier and more ably by others, the Democrats have moved so far to the right that Richard Nixon would be to their left, while the Republicans have moved off the scale onto the insane asylum.

Gov Brown, I went to the Socialists website and listened to their leaders. They think the Democrats are absolutely awful and are nothing like Socialists. If the owners and promoters of socialism think the Democrats are so far from them it’s silly, then please explain. You’re like the KFC manager yelling at Popeye’s Chicken, “your chicken tastes like hamburger.”

I think the former governor should stay retired…
