First of two Medicaid transition open hearings to be held Friday in Somerset

A top deputy in charge of policy for Gov. Matt Bevin will join the Secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and others when they go before concerned individuals in Somerset to discuss changes to the state’s Medicaid transformation proposal.

The meeting on Friday is part of a 30-day public comment period meant to gather the public’s input on proposed operational modifications to the 1115 Kentucky HEALTH demonstration waiver currently before the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Adam Meier, Deputy Chief of Staff, Policy Governor’s Office, Secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services Vickie Yates Brown Glisson, and Kristi Putnam, the program manager got the Kentucky 1115 Medicaid Waiver, will appear at 10 am in Somerset for the public hearing.

Recent reports indicate changes to the waiver will drop 9,000 people from the Medicaid rolls, bringing the total number likely dropped from coverage under the plan to 95,000 people. The changes to the plan are also anticipated to save the state $358 million, according to reports.
