Eminence School District 'on fire' as it gives students laptops, puts wifi on bus

EMINENCE — A district of 600 students 45 minutes northeast of Louisville is blazing into the 21st century with its approach to education. In fact, it’s on fire.

The district gives laptops to its students. It revamped the school week. It buses some students 45 minutes each way to Bellarmine University to take college courses. And to help those students make the most of their bus time, the district installed wifi.

The story of Eminence Independent School District is one of lighting a new path. Superintendent Buddy Berry created the Framework for Innovation in Reinventing Education, or F.I.R.E.
