Democratic PAC reserves $564,000 in ad time to take on Barr

The House Majority PAC, an organization aimed at electing Democrats to Congress, has made a half a million dollar TV ad reservation in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District.

U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, R-Lexington, is being targeted by Democrats in the district which he has represented since 2013, defeating former U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler, D-Lexington, in 2012.

The $564,000 in television advertising time the group has reserved is the earliest mark the PAC has reserved for the final weeks of an election. Democrats are hoping to find enough vulnerable Republicans to once again control the U.S. House of Representatives.

“The Republicans are panicking about losing their majority in the House, because they know that across the country Democrats have top-notch candidates running, and there’s a surge in grassroots participation,” said House Majority PAC Executive Director Charlie Kelly. “2018 will bring a barrage of frantic negative attack ads from GOP outside groups, but HMP is ensuring we’re prepared early-on to fight back. Momentum is on our side, and with smart, strategic investments, we will help Democrats win across the country.”

Lexington Mayor Jim Gray, former Marine fighter pilot Amy McGrath, state Sen. Reggie Thomas , Theodore Green, Daniel Kemph, and Geoff Young are all vying for the Democratic nomination on May 22.
