Delay of GOP convention affects Ky. speakers as Florida braces for storm
08/26/2012 10:14 AM
(UPDATED) TAMPA — The storm Isaac has blown a couple Kentuckians from Monday’s Republican National Convention speaking schedule to later in the week.
Because the Republican National Convention suspended its convention activities Monday, 6th congressional district candidate Andy Barr will be among the speakers on Tuesday. The session starts at 2 p.m.
Barr will be among the congressional candidates who will address the delegates in the
afternoon.
And U.S. Sen. Rand Paul was supposed to speak on Monday as well. He will now follow Kentucky’s senior U.S. Senator, Mitch McConnell, on Wednesday night in prime time.
Paul, who delivered the Republican’s national radio address Saturday, spoke at a rally honoring his father, former presidential candidate and retiring Texas Congressman Ron Paul, on Sunday at the University of South Florida’s Sun Dome.
While the brunt of the storm is expected to miss Tampa, much of Florida was on alert. And on Saturday, I-75 was full of electric crews’ trucks making their way to Florida, including Pike Electric, Asplundh and Hendrix Electric from Clay, Ky.
