UPDATED: After Democratic groups ramped up their attacks against U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, now a national conservative group has launched an ad against actress Ashley Judd, who is not even an announced candidate in the 2014 race.
American Crossroads, a Super PAC founded by Republican strategist Karl Rove, released a digital ad Wednesday titled “Ashley’s Story”, depicting Judd as an “ Obama-following radical Hollywood liberal, who’s right at home in Tennessee”.
Watch the Crossroads ad here:
Judd has been taking a closer look into a run for U.S. Senate against McConnell in 2014.
While she has been receiving encouragement to run, the ad is correct in saying that Judd is currently a Tennessee resident and would have to re-establish a residency in Kentucky in order to file.
Crossroads spent $10,000 to air web ad, and it will run for two weeks and is targeted at Kentuckians, according to the group.
WHAS-11’s Joe Arnold received a response from Judd’s publicist:
“Ashley thanks Senator McConnell, Karl Rove, and their negative allies for all the attention as she considers her future political plans, although a decision hasn’t been made yet.”
