Chatter: Leet hires campaign manager, Yarmuth talks about potential matchup with Glisson

Republican Louisville metro councilwoman Angela Leet has hired Kyle Hagerty, the former Deputy Political Director of the Republican Party of Kentucky, as her campaign manager for the Louisville mayoral race.

Leet vying to take on Democratic incumbent Mayor Greg Fischer, and she has a distinct disadvantage in the highly Democratic district. Louisville has not had a Republican mayor since 1969 and, if elected, Leet would be the first female mayor in the city’s history.

Females could be at top of ballot in Jefferson Co. in November

Republicans could elect another woman at the top of their ballots this November in Vicki Yates Brown Glisson. The now former Cabinet for Health and Family Services Secretary joined the GOP primary for the 3rd Congressional District on Tuesday.

Glisson was asked about the possibility of two females, including herself and Leet, being at the top of the ballot this November in Jefferson County.

Glisson will face Mike Craven and Rhonda Palazzo in May 22 primary.

Yarmuth predicts healthcare as top issue if he and Glisson face-off in Nov.

If Glisson becomes the Republican nominee, she will challenge incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth in another uphill battle in the Louisville-based district. On Wednesday, Pure Politics asked Yarmuth what that campaign could look like.
