Charlotte turns Democratic National Convention into state fair atmosphere
09/05/2012 07:30 AM
One of the most obvious differences between the conventions in Tampa and Charlotte is that Charlotte has done a better job at integrating the convention into its community.
In Tampa, the Republican convention was largely walled off from the rest of the city. The Democratic National Convention in Charlotte almost has a state fair feel to it.
Of course, a hurricane hasn’t been bearing down on this convention. And it probably helps that the DNC kicked off during a holiday weekend. Whatever the reason, Charlotte has made a spectacle out of it.
