Candidates set for 89th Dist. Special Election

The candidates have now been named in the special election to replace Republican Rep. Marie Rader, who resigned from office earlier this year.
Robert Goforth, of East Bernstadt, will represent the Republican Party in the district which favors the GOP. Goforth opened up his campaign account for the Nov. 2018 in November with $100,000 of his own money.
Kelly Smith, an Eastern Kentucky University librarian from Madison Co., has the Democratic nomination.
The district encompasses all of Jackson and part of Laurel and Madison County. The special election will take place on Feb. 27, 2018.
The deadline for write-in candidates to file declarations of intent is Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. ET.
The deadline to register to vote before the special election is Jan. 29.
