Barr says protecting businesses from taxes better for the poor than more food stamps spending

Republicans in Congress should hold the line against raising taxes on the top 2 percent of earners and against increasing spending for food stamps, said Andy Barr, who will join the GOP ranks in the U.S. House in January.

“The bottom line is this: we need to make sure we provide our low income folks with jobs. That is the best anti-poverty program in this country. We need job creation. And instead of talking about increasing more and more spending for food stamps, let’s give people jobs so that they don’t have to rely on food stamps,” Barr said.

Barr said he considered the failure of Congress to pass a farm bill an abdication of duty as members of Congress fight over spending levels on agriculture subsidies and the food stamps program, now known as SNAP.

“We need a farm bill desperately,” Barr said.

    Talking about job creation will not feed our neediest of citizens. When Andy gets all these folks jobs, then he can decide how to use the money saved from food stamps, and give the rich their tax break back for creating these new jobs. Reel in some of the farm subsidies instead of the aid to the poor and unemployed.

    Talk about morons! Google gave over $700-thousand dollars to the Obama Campaign (which I’m sure is OK with the morons here), and they just sheltered $2-billion dollars of their money in the Bahamas (which, again, I’m sure is just fine with the morons here…and the President). Fools are so easily led in this country now. They really think, as evidenced by the moronic statements here, that we can tax the wealthy enough to pay for Obama’s $-trillion dollar a year deficits! President Obama is only talking about raising about $84-billion a year in taxes from the wealthy, while maintaining a trillion dollar yearly deficit as far as the eye can see. Hey, C-Gap, JDM, St. Fran….how is this going to solve our debt problems—which is killing our private economy? And maybe, if you get around to using the God-given talent God gave you, explain to me why Obama is letting his super-wealthy friends get out of paying their fair share in taxes?

    Ask Bruce Springsteen if he has Cayman Island accounts or what effective tax rate he pays,and he’ll introduce you to his bodyguards. By the way,if all Bush tax rates were to expire it would bring in over 300 billion per year in addition to the 80 billion from the upper brackets. The press will soon call those the Obama middle class tax cuts and they’ll still blame Bush for the continuing deficits..maybe even Reagan.

    Cat….also Springsteen has his New Jersey estate listed as a farm. Why? Because New Jersey has a special, lower tax law on the books for land listed as farm land. Does anyone really believe that Bruce Springsteen is a farmer? Can anyone say “TAX CHEAT?”
