Freshman U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, R-Lexington, has filled out his top staff in the 6th Congressional District by hiring longtime Republican aide Colleen Chaney as his district director and Kentucky Club for Growth director Andy Hightower as his policy advisor.
Barr told Pure Politics Thursday at the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce dinner that Chaney and Hightower officially came on board his staff this month.
Chaney has served as chief deputy clerk in Madison County since 2011. Before that she spent four years as a top aide to then-Secretary of State Trey Grayson, heading up Grayson’s legislative and corporate programs office. She also worked for Republican Gov. Ernie Fletcher’s administration.
Hightower, who spent the last four years as executive director of the conservative Kentucky Club for Growth, will work out of the district office and will serve as senior advisor on policy.
Hightower also is a former senior legislative and policy aide for Fletcher’s administration, and he worked in Fletcher’s Washington office while he was 6th District congressman.
