UPDATED WITH AD: Andy Barr’s campaign is rolling out their first ads Tuesday with a $102,500 dollar advertising buy across radio, cable and broadcast markets in Lexington. That includes $82,000 on TV starting Tuesday.
The campaign manager for Barr, the Republican challenger in the 6th congressional district, said the ad features Andy’s wife Carol introducing voters to Barr, who is a Lexington lawyer. The campaign said the ads will be positive and will outline reasons to elect Barr in November.
“The beginning of our television ad campaign tomorrow demonstrates that we have the resources and commitment to communicate our message to the voters of the Sixth Congressional District,” Barr said in a press release.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has also reserved ad time in the Lexington market. Roll Call reports that the independent expenditure group has purchased $45,305 of airtime.
The ads are expected to target Democratic Congressman Ben Chandler of Versailles. Barr lost to Chandler by 648 votes two years ago.
Chandler’s campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment Monday.
