Rep. Wesley Morgan, R-Richmond, has vowed to remain a thorn in the side of the Republican Party and is endorsing Democratic nominee for the 81st House District Morgan Eaves.

Rep. Morgan posted his frustrations in a lengthy statement posted to his Facebook page after losing the Republican nomination on Tuesday night to audiologist Deanna Frazier, who garnered 56.8 percent of the vote.

“I will never cease to be a thorn in the side of every member of the Republican Party who claims to be a conservative and still supports people like Mitch McConnell, Jeff Hoover, and Jonathan Shell,” Morgan wrote on social media. “Until we weed out corrupt individuals such as this, we are truly doomed no matter what party is in power.”

“With that being said, I will fully support and be voting for Morgan Eaves in November. At least Democrats don’t pretend not to be corrupt,” he continued.

Morgan was part of a small group of House Republicans who sought to ouster former House Speaker Jeff Hoover, R-Jamestown, as he was embroiled in controversy surrounding a sexual harassment settlement with a former House staffer.

Eaves, an Emerge Kentucky graduate and city commissioner faces Frazier in the November election.
