LOUISVILLE- Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says it’s going to be a “knife fight in an alley” to keep control of the Senate. “We know the wind is going to be in our face, we don’t know whether it’s going to be category three, four or five,” McConnell said. “You can’t repeal history. Barr releases first attack ad against McGrath

LEXINGTON- U.S. Representative Andy Barr, R-Lexington, has released his first attack ad against opponent Amy McGrath. The ad paints the former fighter pilot as “too liberal” for the sixth congressional district and uses clips of McGrath from various interviews and speeches. It is the second ad released by Barr. The race between Andy Barr and McGrath is tight, with Sabato’s Crystal Ball and Cook Political Report listing the race as a toss-up.  Read more 

Grimes predicts highest primary voter turnout since 2010

FRANKFORT- Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, D-Kentucky, is projecting a turnout of 30 percent or less of the 3.3 million people registered to vote will head out the polls for Tuesday’s Primary Election. McConnell pokes fun at Blankenship loss

After weeks of attack ads from a West Virginia Senate GOP candidate, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s campaign team got the last laugh. After former Coal executive Don Blankenship came in a distant third in the West Virginia GOP Senate primary on Tuesday, McConnell’s campaign team tweeted out “Thanks for playing, Don”, with a picture of McConnell surrounded by a white powdery substance, likely in reference to Netflix show Narcos. Marine Lt. Colonel Amy McGrath announces run for Congress

Retired U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel Amy McGrath is throwing her hat into the ring, announcing her run for Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District seat in a two-minute video. She is seeking the Democratic party’s nomination in the May 2018 primary. McGrath joins State Senator Reggie Thomas, D-Lexington, who announced his run at the beginning of July.
