3 GOP candidates hope to keep 88th District House seat in Republican hands

LEXINGTON – When Rep. Robert Benvenuti, R-Lexington, announced that he would not seek re-election, one familiar face and two relative political newcomers filed to run in the 88th House District Republican Primary. The candidates include former Rep. Bill Farmer, who served in the House from 2003 to 2012 before stepping down because of health issues related to rheumatoid arthritis, Lexington attorney Jennifer McVay Martin and Lexington businesswoman Ashley Bruggeman.
