What we learned from Kentucky's defense against Southern Miss

Kentucky’s defense stepped up in a big way against Southern Miss, especially in the run game.

The Wildcats held Southern Miss to 55 rushing yards on 38 carries (1.4 YPC).

“Just our run defense was much more stout,” Stoops said Monday. “I thought defensive line in predictably pass, we were hard to block. We executed some things very well.”

Stoops acknowledged that there are still areas of improvement for Kentucky’s defense, but it was a great start to the season for the unit.
