39 years.

That’s how long it had been since the last “Power Conference” team finished a regular season unscathed in Division I men’s college basketball, but the University of Kentucky changed that over the weekend.

With its 67-50 victory over the Florida Gators (15-16, 8-10 SEC) on Saturday, UK finished the regular season with a perfect 31-0 record. It’s the first time in school history the Wildcats have entered tournament play undefeated, and they’re the only power conference team to do so since Indiana in 1976.

Both John Calipari and Florida head coach Billy Donovan spoke about the historical accomplishment after the game, and our KSTV crew discussed what makes this year’s team so special.
