Were the expectations wrong for this UK football team?

The Kentucky football enters SEC play this weekend with a perfect 2-0 record, but they have not looked like the team many thought capable of contending in the SEC East. After winning seven games last year and with so many returning players, expectations were high at the end of last year. Since then, the Cats said goodbye to wide receiver Jeff Badet and running back Boom Williams before losing starters Cole Mosier and Dorian Baker to injury. Should the expectations for this group been adjusted heading into the season?
