The University of Kentucky Wildcats open the season on Saturday in a newly renovated Commonwealth Stadium and both university and city officials are stressing safety on game day.

University officials were joined on Tuesday by various public agencies, including Lexington Police and Lexington Fire, to outline several reminders and important security notes related to fans who plan to attend.

Prohibited items
Fans should familiarize themselves with prohibited items prior to arriving at Commonwealth Stadium and limit their number of personal belongings. Backpacks and large bags are prohibited (no larger than 13.5 inches x 10 inches x 7 inches).

Display parking permit
Fans are encouraged to clearly display their parking permits inside their vehicles so traffic personnel can efficiently sort and direct vehicles approaching the stadium.

Traffic and Parking
Officials have partnered with the navigation app Waze to communicate game day traffic patterns and road closures.

Fans can access real-time game day information on Twitter at @UKGamedayInfo or UK’s football game day website .

Game time against Southern Miss is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
