LEXINGTON — Talk about starting the season with a “BOOM.”

Sophomore running back Stanley “Boom” Williams took Kentucky’s first offensive play untouched for a 75-yard touchdown to highlight an explosive first half and 24-7 halftime lead against Louisiana Lafayette.

The air game was clicking for the Cats, too, with junior quarterback Patrick Towles finishing the half 10-17 for a whopping 219 yards and two touchdowns, including six completions of over 25 yards.

Junior cornerback J.D. Harmon led the defensive effort with a fumble recovery at UK’s own 4-yard line in the first quarter, followed by an interception on UL-Lafayette’s last drive of the half.

Not to be missed, sophomore kicker Austin MacGinnis connected on a 44-yard field goal to close the second quarter. It was his 10th consecutive make extending back to last season — a new UK record.
