UK Volleyball has high expectations heading into the season

UK women’s volleyball held their media day on Thursday, and they are confident heading into the season. The Wildcats ended last season on a disappointing note, being upset in the first round of the NCAA tournament by American University. Head Coach Craig Skinner is confident in his roster that features a lot of depth and experience, led by Senior Anni Thommasson and Juniors Ashley Dusek and Kaz Brown.

Believe it or not, this season will be the first time the volleyball team has a player from the city of Lexington on their team. Freshman Leah Edmond of Dunbar High School joins the Wildcats after a strong career there. Bradley McKee caught up with Leah about what it means to be the first player in program history from Lexington.

After we talked to the players and coaches, TJ, Bradley and myself all competed in the first ever volleyball media skills challenge. Here’s a little taste of how we did.

UK enters the season ranked 24th in the country.
