Despite a dumping of snow across the state and a state of emergency being declared by Governor Matt Bevin, basketball will be played as scheduled Saturday at Rupp Arena. The University of Kentucky sent out the following press release this evening:
Despite winter weather conditions in the Lexington area, Saturday’s Kentucky men’s basketball game vs. Vanderbilt in Rupp Arena is still scheduled for a 4 p.m. tipoff. Unless otherwise announced by UK Athletics, the game will be played as scheduled.
Vanderbilt arrived in Lexington, Ky., on Thursday in preparation for a winter storm that has dumped large snowfall accumulations across Central Kentucky. The Wildcats returned from their Thursday night game in Fayetteville, Ark., late Thursday night.
Rupp Arena doors will open Saturday 90 minutes prior to tip. UK Athletics is encouraging all fans to use proper discretion when deciding to attend. UK Athletics recommends fans attending Saturday’s game give themselves ample time to arrive at Rupp Arena and to take caution where conditions are hazardous.
For fans that have purchased tickets and are unable to make it to the game, there are options to transfer tickets to another guest or to resell them via TicketExchange.
