UK SOFTBALL | Wildcats Ready to Host NCAA Regional Tournament

The University of Kentucky softball team will host the 2018 NCAA Softball Regionals, starting Friday through Sunday of this week.

The Wildcats were announced as a host team for the regional tournament during Sunday night’s NCAA Softball Selection Show.

The Cats are ranked #19 in USA Today/NFCA Coaches poll and will battle Illinois-Chicago in the second game of the regional tournament at 2:30pm. Michigan takes on Notre Dame, with a first-pitch of 12pm.

This weekend’s regional tournament games are double-elimination games and the 16 regional champions in the 64-team NCAA Tournament advance to the super-regional round. The eight super-regional winners will then advance to the College World Series.

Single-session tickets will go on sale Wednesday, May 16 at 9 a.m. ET.

Game 1 – Notre Dame (32-21) vs. Michigan (43-11) – Noon ET – ESPN2
Game 2 – UIC (33-19) vs. Kentucky (31-19) – 2:30 p.m. ET –

Saturday, May 19
Game 3 – Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2 – Noon ET
Game 4 – Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2 – 2:30 p.m. ET
Game 5 – Loser Game 3 vs. Winner Game 4 – 5 p.m. ET

Sunday, May 20
Game 6 – Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 5 – Noon ET
Game 7 – (If necessary) – 2:30 p.m. ET
