John Calipari said before the season that he hoped his team would get challenged physically throughout the non-conference schedule and Buffalo did just that Sunday as the Cats found themselves trailing 38-33 at the half.

But UK responded after the break, particularly on the defensive end, where they’d allow only 14 second half points. Freshmen Trey Lyles and Tyler Ulis led the team with 12 points, while fellow freshman Devin Booker added 10. Dakari Johnson added 9 points and 12 rebounds and Willie Cauley-Stein contributed 6 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and a block.
