The University of Kentucky reached a lease agreement with the Lexington Center Corporation that will keep the UK basketballl team, as well as Big Blue Madness, graduation and some women’s games at Rupp Arena through 2033.

In addition to the lease agreement, the school will now control the multimedia rights and the selling of souvenirs inside of the arena. The University of Kentucky will also receive the revenue from the creation of four clubs and club spaces within Rupp Arena, which will be used during games, and the Lexington Center will convert some seats in the upper arena to chairs, rather than the existing bleachers.

Of the agreement, UK athletics director Mitch Barnhart said, “We are excited that Rupp Arena will be the home of the Wildcats for another 15 years. It already has been the home of so much history and shared pride for our University and our community. We are gratified by the commitment the Lexington Center has made to continuing to improve the fan experience through upgrades to technology and other amenities. With this agreement signed, we look forward to taking the next proud step in a long tradition of excellence that has defined our basketball program and this historic venue.”
