The University of Kentucky opened the Sports Medicine Research Institute this morning. The 10,000-sq. ft. facility, located inside the Nutter Training Facility, is the only one of its kind within 400 miles of Lexington.

It will study performance optimization and injury reduction for UK athletes and members of the United States military.
