Thanks to 20 points and 5 rebounds from junior Alex Poythress, the UK basketball team easily handled the Dominican Republic’s national team, 83-71, and moved to a perfect 4-0 on their Big Blue Bahamas trip.

The Dominicans, boasting a rotation featuring former Cat Eloy Vargas, as well as former UofL stars Francisco Garcia and Edgar Sosa, struggled with UK’s size and their ability to play at the rim on both ends of the floor. Sophomore center Dakari Johnson added 10 points and 12 rebounds, while freshman Karl Towns chipped in 12 and 7.

The Dominican Republic is ranked as the world’s #26 team. The Cats are back in action tomorrow at 1pm (SEC Network) against Chalons-Reims, a team they blew out earlier this week.
