Washington’s Talia Walton scored a team high 30 points, while her teammate Chantel Osahor had a strong double-double of 19 points and 17 rebounds, as the 7th seeded Huskies upset and eliminated 3rd seeded Kentucky 85-72. The Cats were behind for just about the entire game, trailing by double digits for much of the evening.

Makayla Epps finished with a team high 30 for Big Blue, one of four UK players scoring in double digits. Kentucky as you’d expect, had the home crowd advantage at Rupp Arena. Fans were vocal, but that never seemed to bother Washington. The Huskies grabbed the lead for good in the final minute of the first quarter, and while Kentucky did make several runs, the Cats were never able to catch Washington.

UK was hoping to advance to the final four without ever having to leave their home city. The Cats first two wins took place at Memorial Coliseum, with the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games being held at Rupp. Kentucky finishes the year at 25-8. Washington awaits the winner of the game between No. 1 seed Notre Dame and No. 4 seed Stanford in the Lexington Regional final.
