The 19th ranked UK Hoops team opened their season in style last night as the Cats topped no. 14 Miami at Memorial Coliseum

Senior guard Makayla Epps scored 18 of her game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter as Kentucky went on a 13-0 run with just over 3 minutes to go to seal the victory.

“I guess I did just start feeling it in the fourth quarter. It is just crazy how things happen sometimes. My teammates kept feeding me the ball, especially Maci, she pulled me to the side and told me not to worry about the free throws. It was just like when I told her against Union when she had a bad shooting night. She was shooting the heck out of the ball tonight. I said I don’t care if you’re 0-20, you shoot the ball. She said the same thing to me. I just have love for my teammates, and that really kept me upbeat.” Epps said in speaking with the media.

Senior Evelyn Akhator chipped in 18 points and 10 rebounds to record her 14th career double double as a Wildcat. Sophomore Maci Morris added 11 points for UK in the victory.

Kentucky wont have long to enjoy the victory as they face Albany Saturday night at 7pm.
