LEXINGTON — The Preseason Coaches Poll came out today, and despite not making the top 25, Kentucky Football did receive one vote.
A panel of 64 randomly selected FBS head coaches submit individual top 25 lists with first place votes earning 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.
Kentucky came out with one solitary point, meaning some coach somewhere thinks the Cats are a top-25 caliber team.
And no, it wasn’t Mark Stoops because he was not one of the coaches selected to participate in season’s polling.
Defending national champion Ohio State took the top overall spot, claiming 62 of a possible 64 first-place votes, followed by TCU at No. 2, Alabama at No. 3, Baylor at No. 4, and Oregon to round out the top five.
Vanderbilt was the only SEC school to not receive a single vote.
Kentucky kicks off the 2015 season in just 36 days when the Wildcats take on the Ragin’ Cajuns of LA-Lafayette on September 5 in the first game a newly renovated Commonwealth Stadium.
