UK FOOTBALL | Midseason Grades: Defense & Special Teams

LEXINGTON — Big Blue Nation is signing Mark Stoops’ praises so far in 2015 as the Kentucky Wildcats are off to a quick 4-1 start heading into the midseason bye week.
But the UK head coach isn’t fishing for compliments. Rather, he’s demanding better execution from his team in the second half of the season as the Wildcats play to earn their first bowl bid in five years, including from punter Landon Foster whom Stoops benched midway through the Eastern Kentucky game to send a message:
“We were frustrated with Landon [Foster],” Stoops said after practice during the bye week. “I’ve told you all many times leading up to that, every kicker, every player on our team, if they aren’t playing to their full potential, than it’s the next man up.”
In part two of our midseason report cards for Kentucky football, KSTV hands out position-by-position grades for the defense and special teams.
