UK Football: Eli Brown Hoping for a Bigger Role in 2017

Redshirt sophomore weakside linebacker Eli Brown is focused on seeing more time on the field this season. The Bowling Green native recorded 24 tackles in 12 games last season.

Brown is a bit undersized for his position, weighing 215 pounds. But he’s not worried that will affect his play.

“Since my freshman year, you can ask anybody. I’ve always been the most physical one on defense,” said Brown. “I’m going to hit regardless.”

Brown currently sits behind the star of Kentucky’s defense, junior Jordan Jones. Jones led Kentucky in total tackles and tackles for lass last season. While Jones is the unquestioned starter at the position heading into the season, Brown is confident that he will make an impact on the field.

“Jordan is a player, man. We’ve been battling for the 1-2 spot since I’ve been here and it’s always been a close fight.”

What kind of role will Brown have this season? Bradley McKee and Clayton Abernathy discuss.
