UK FOOTBALL | Conrad makes watchlist for nation's top tight end
10/14/2015 01:30 PM
LEXINGTON — Kentucky freshman C.J. Conrad has made the midseason watch list for the 2015 John Mackey Award, an annual honor recognizing the top tight end in college football.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound product of LaGrange, Ohio, is just one of two freshmen to make the cut, joining Micky Crum of the rival Louisville Cardinals.
Conrad has started three of Kentucky’s first five games this season, serving mostly as a valuable run blocker for UK’s backfield. But against No. 25 Missouri, Conrad did break out for three catches for 57 yards and a touchdown, leading the Wildcats to a 21-13 upset victory and their first win over a ranked opponent since 2010.
Kentucky (4-1, 2-1 SEC) hosts Auburn (3-2, 0-2 SEC) on Thursday night at Commonwealth Stadium — the first Thursday night home game in program history.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET with the game televised on ESPN.
